The Great Walker Road Trip, Day 9

Home at last!

Day 9 Started in Bishop, CA with lots of firetrucks trying to pull into the very small lot right next to our van!  Yikes!  We got a fairly early start to Yosemite today, made good time and got to see a lot of beautiful mountains, cliffs, meadows, streams, waterfalls and no bears!  We did a bit of hiking, first in the woods (lots of mosquitoes!) and then up streams and in streams to waterfalls.  Finally we decided it was just too hot (96 degrees, but far cooler than Death Valley had been!) so we saw a lot from the van.

We found that Emma is happiest when wading barefoot in an icy cold mountain stream.

We plan to go back to Yosemite for a couple days to really explore and appreciate everything there.  Our trip was far too short and quick to really do exploring, which is a shame, but we are still happy we did it this way!

We ran out of PB and nutella yesterday so we had jelly sandwiches and other random things we had still in the van.  This caused us to be more famished than usual for dinner, which we found at a KFC in Merced.  We're not ever going to live in Merced, BTW.

We are very happy to be home, for small comforts like our own shower and our own beds.

Total miles today:356

Total trip miles 2,002

Will update with pictures once they area loaded to the computer, and I might even update how much we spend on gas!  Only if you care to hear, so feedback, please.  :D  Then I'll know if anyone is actually reading this blasted thing!
