faith…hope…love
but the greatest of
these is love
(1 Corinthians 13:13)
Greetings from our still
new to us home! Our first year in our
new house has been quite interesting!
We’ve discovered so much and learned a lot. We’ve completed floor installation this year,
done a lot of painting, a bit of gardening, many odd jobs and a ton of planning
for what is to come. One year in and we
are currently tackling our first major remodel – the main bathroom (which
includes a copper re-pipe and electrical panel upgrade!). This house is going to be one very long work
in progress.
Schuyler started at a
new high school after the first of the year and did pretty well with the
transition. He is enjoying his
computer/engineering classes as a sophomore and is already thinking about
SAT’s! Yikes! We can’t believe he’s 15 already…where has
the time gone??
Emma continues
gymnastics (and not only using the house as her personal gym, but her crazy
parents built her a balance beam to encourage this insane behavior). She decided not to play soccer this year so
she has more time for her school work (perfectionist much?). She has continued with violin and piano, and
has started learning flute as well. She
is super excited that her braces finally came off over the summer. Emma turned double digits in August with
family in town, and started 5th grade a couple days later.
The latest addition
to our family is Max, a 4 year old Golden (non)Retriever/Akita mix. He’s a big and energetic goofball with some
massive anxiety issues (that are getting much better!) who fits into our family
overly well. While with us Max has
learned to stay home alone for a few hours (and to stop his anxious chewing on
wooden gates). He has also learned that
chewing on toys/balls can be a fun way to release some pent up energy
(re-living a puppy-hood he didn’t get to have), but not so much if they
squeak. He also learned that chasing his
tail is quite enjoyable, even if he rarely catches it. While he will do pretty much anything for a
belly rub, we have discovered that Max is quite keen on his protector duties,
especially when it comes to his girl people.
We hope this letter
finds you all well and happy.
Love to all, Merry
Christmas and a blessed 2014!
Sean, Terry,
Schuyler, Emma and Max Walker
