Around Thanksgiving time we started a remodel of our main bathroom. We made the plans, we purchased the stuff, we got the permits. We had the plumber come in and redid all the pipes in copper. We brought in the electrician to do a panel upgrade (the one we had was inadequate for the size house we have). In the midst of all this, Sean broke his foot. So...things have slowed to a crawl, but we are hoping to have this bathroom done, for sure, by summer!!

Oh, and the leak from the upstairs tub. We would have figured that one out soon enough even without ripping out the ceiling.
The gut job:
Since then we've had the plumbing done with copper, the leak upstairs fixed (see the dustpan catching the water and depositing it in the LARGE hole through which the mice entered?). Mold has been dealt with, ants and mouse droppings gone. Sean installed a vent and overhead light with a nightlight in it. We've been working on repairing some stucco damage on this wall, and Sean dealt with some termite damaged wood as well.
And now we await the healing of the foot OR the giving in and paying someone to help with the big stuff....like moving the bathtub in and the electrician to come back and go under the house to do that part of the electrical that SOMEONE shouldn't do with a broken foot....
I am realizing I can do a lot more than I thought! I have learned to repair drywall, and repair stucco. I even helped to install that vent! I've never drilled metal before (or, really, used the drill for anything besides taking out screws).
That being said, the upstairs bathroom was built just like this one. Meaning I think we need to hire someone to deal with that demo! The inch of concrete and layer of chicken wire under the tile is a bear - and that bathroom is bigger, has two sit-upons in the tub area, and the much larger counter is also tiled...in this same nasty tile. Not fun. But, at least that one is only wallpapered - no 1/2 of plaster with tiger claws :)
More updates as we are able to get to it! Sorry for my poor little blog (that no one really reads anyway) is so severely neglected.
