Merry Christmas, 2016

Greetings from the California Walkers!

2016!  Jeepers, we are at Christmas already!  J
This year we increased the crazy by taking in a stray dog in June.  We are still looking for a permanent home for him, though. We also kept busy playing musical jobs, musical schools, and musical theatre this year.

Sean accepted a new job; he is a Software Manager at VytronUS, a medical robotics company.  He is enjoying working at this new company even though the hours have increased significantly.  Sean continues to enjoy photography and woodworking whenever the chance arises.  He’s slowly dialing in the backyard workshop and making some pretty impressive things from simple shelving to elaborate boxes and clocks.  He also enjoys getting outside to play Pokémon with Emma!

Terry has been busy with a new job as well.  Circumstances this past year necessitated the formation of a new school, so she has taken part in the founding of one!  Garden Street School is a homeschool co-op this year; we are looking into options to continue as a bona-fide private school in the future.  Terry does the administrative work for the school as well as some teaching.

Schuyler’s year has been quite action packed!  He graduated from high school in March, started community college in June, and turned 18 in September (just in time to vote in his very first election).  Schuyler also got his drivers’ permit this year, and started his first real job.  He has been interning at VytronUS and is really enjoying the work.  Even with all this going on, he still finds time for one of his main passions: computer/video games.

Emma has also had a very big year.  She turned into a teenager in August before starting 8th grade at Garden Street School.  She continued gymnastics and voice lessons, as well as a 3rd year of basketball tournaments in WI.  Emma has turned into quite the thespian…first with the yearly productions at school, ending with playing Bagheera in The Jungle Book.  Then she decided to join StarStruck (a local youth theatre group) for High School Musical, Jr. and Frog and Toad Are Friends.  She is currently working hard on the Main Stage production through StarStruck, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat.  Shows for Joseph are next year (January), but the bulk of the work is this year, with rehearsals 4 nights a week!  Most importantly, she LOVES it, and that is why her parents are willing to put up with all that Emma-schlepping. J

Dear Max turned 7 this year.   He has calmed considerably since joining our family.  He truly thinks he’s one of the humans.  Fluffy Thistlewit turned 6. She’s a total goof who adores playing ball and snuggling in people’s armpits.  Sometimes she cops an attitude, making us wonder if she’s actually a cat.  Frankie, a 4-5 year old dashchund/chihuahua mix, is our stray foster dog who needs a home.  He is a charming fellow who loves his bed at Terry’s feet and to snuggle on the couch next to Sean.

We hope this letter finds you all well and happy.
Love to all, Merry Christmas
and a blessed 2017!
Sean, Terry, Schuyler, Emma,
Max, Thistlewit and

(Foster) Frankie Walker
