Merry Christmas to all! The kids had a wonderful Christmas. We started off Christmas Eve with a family dear to our hearts that just left to move to NY (I'm jealous!!) yesterday. The kids had a wonderful time playing and I didn't mess dinner up too badly (although I forgot the second batch of rolls in the oven as we sat to eat, turned the oven off before their time was up and ended up making coal for naughty children's stockings).
Christmas morning we realized all Schuyler really needs is a couple good books, and for Emma, some beads, some new cupcake jammies with matching slippers, a 'big girl' dollie and some ponies. Oh yes, and some books for her, too. Did I forget the new parasol she carried around? Very cute, indeed.
Currently Schuyler is building a roller coaster in his room that is bigger than he is. He keeps bringing it to the walkway by the main bath and the kids rooms, but we cannot get by. So, it has been banned from the rest of the house and takes up most of his room. It's pretty cool actually. When it's finished I'll grab a picture of it!
Emma is currently 'helping' Daddy at Costco by alerting him that there are samples ahead. When he called to see if we needed something else she was sampling some cheese. Cupcakes are all the rage this season as her "my dad is the man" shirt she's wearing has cupcake sleeves (nearly perfectly matching the jammies), reminding her that she wants to eat cupcakes.
We have to say goodbye to our beloved Goldie the Goldfish. He survived 5 whole days. On day 4 mom (but no one else) noticed the pungent smell of Seans wet sneakers in the house, coming from the fish bowl. Sean insisted it didn't need to be cleaned yet. I reminded Sean of the contract for the goldfish clearly stating that Mom is NOT responsible for said goldfish, feeding nor cleaning of the tank. Mom doesn't like fish, not to eat and not to clean. On day 5 Mom found Goldie no longer with us. Still being not responsible for the fish or his surroundings, he was put onto the kitchen table (which is still in the garage) for Sean to clean, where it still sits the next day. Emma has not noticed that he is gone. Schuyler was a bit sad, but we prepared him well for the fate of most goldfish. Quite simply, our house is just too cold for fish. We wake up to a 58-60 degree house every morning, and it gets cold while we aren't here as well. Not exactly "sunny CA" everyone! Christmas morning at 8:30 am it was 33 degrees outside! The frost resembles snow so it was almost a white Christmas!
So now we gear up for a new year, some new classes for me, more PreK and 4th grade for the kids and more research and teaching for Sean. Happy New Year to come!
