As we all know, children are very trying creatures. Mine enjoy the "she's looking at me" 'game'. This usually occurs at the dinner table after very long days.
On such a day - the other day in fact, Emma is staring at Schuyler. He is all bent out of shape because she is looking at him. He isn't understanding that she isn't actually harming him. Perhaps he should be flattered! Nope. They just fight and argue about this. So, in all my wisdom, I remain calm and tell Emma that God gave her the gift of sight, to use for good things, not mean things like annoying her brother. So the fighting somewhat ceased that night.
Now, a few days later Emma informs me that God heals the blind, but not so they can annoy people at the dinner table.
Well there you go - proof that they actually do listen sometimes! And, for a 4 year old it's scary how well she can connect the dots.
