Schuyler's first baseball practice

Schuyler had a lot of fun at his first baseball practice. I admit, the practice was LAST Sunday and I am just now, the following Saturday, getting these uploaded. So sue me!

Batting went well, he didn't bunt, he didn't home-run it, he did well.


He caught well too!


Stretching was interesting. The boys aren't as limber as you would think 9 year olds should be. The really interesting thing was during stretching during the second practice, you could tell which ones had new cups and weren't used to wearing them. One good reason I didn't bring the camera to the second practice. Also a good reason for Emma to not be at that practice - don't need her asking those kinds of questions! It was hard enough explaining that stuff to Schuyler! Poor boys!

Got it! He did really well, as did all the boys. They all had lots of fun and the main coach and assistant coaches seem really nice. There are a few other boys who are playing their first time this year as well, which is very reassuring. The parents all seem nice as well (no worries about feuds in the stands during games). The unfortunate part about the games is that our umpires are first years and all 13/14 years old. So games will be interesting. I think coaches and parents will be okay holding their tongues on bad calls, but not so sure the boys can handle that. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong and all be incredibly good sports!

I'll post more from his first game. We are really glad we let him play this year. With practices in pre-season only on Fridays and Sundays they aren't interfering with schoolwork. Hopefully when mid week games and practices start up during the season he'll still be fine! Most importantly right now: he's having fun and making friends.
