Game 6: Reds vs. Astros 11-6 Astros

Well, our streak is over and the coach told the boys to 'flush' this game.

The Astros won 11-6.

The Astros are a superior batting team and our outfielders were working over time. We had terrific pitching. For some reason our batters were all a bit off today, and a little confused in the field.

Schuyler started in right field for two innings - did well, fielded a few balls and got them back to the infield. In left field he also fielded a few and played third coverage well. In the fourth inning he was at 2nd base with not much to do. If I remember correctly this is the inning where 3 of the first 4 batters were struck out by our pitcher. He sat out for the last two inning in the outfield.

He was only up to bat twice. He was remarkedly ready, did a fake bunt psych out, but ultimately got to first on a walk. He did swing at one and missed, but with 3-0 at the time, he couldn't have lost to try it! He then stole 2nd, and then stole 3rd and home on an overthrow. He is one of the best runners on the team and not too shabby at the sliding thing, either. We just need to get him up and batting stronger.

Second time up to bat he seemed to loose a bit of his nerve with a new pitcher and some very very fast balls. But, he got to 1st on a walk with 2 strikes. 3rd out was called while he was at 1st base.

The Reds fought valiantly right up to the end. It was a super hot day (morning) (78 in the shade..not sure what it was in the blazing sun) and the boys seemed quite tired.

Next game vs. the Cubs the Tuesday after next. Spring break is next week for our district so the boys have the week off (after practice tomorrow). I wouldn't be too surprised though to see most of these boys at the batting cages over break if they aren't on family vacations!

Sean was able to make the game today and got some pics. I'll post those hopefully later today if there are any good ones.
