Reds started off pretty rocky with a 2-6 score entering inning 4...and then picked it right up and snatched the win without taking last ups!!
Schuyler's deeds:
Inning 1 sat out fielding and no at bat
Inning 2 - no action in left field and no at bat
Inning 3 - sat out fielding and struck out with 2 balls, 2 strikes (no swing), 1 more ball and then a swinging strike. He was still swinging a terrific swing, just a bit too early and high.
Inning 4 - THE REDS ROCKIN' INNING!! Schuyler was in right field with no action, and no at bat. End of this inning score is tied at 6-6.
Inning 5 was Schuyler's rockin' inning!!! Center field with no action. Up at bat he had a swinging strike, too early. Then a foul ball. THEN HE SMASHED THAT BALL SO HARD IT WENT UNDER THE THIRD BASEMAN'S FEET AND HE DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE IT! WENT CLEAR INTO LEFT FIELD!!! Got to first and RBI. Stole 2nd on an overthrow (catcher didn't catch it). Then was batted all the way home! GO SCHUYLER!!!!!! If you could have heard the Reds stands when he fouled (merely because he made contact) and then it was deafening when he nailed it. AMAZING. Mom actually started to cry and had to walk away for a minute! End of this inning 11-6
Inning 6 - left field no action and no score for the Braves as our pitcher shut them out with 2 strikes and then 2nd baseman got a grounder to first for the 3rd out. No last ups because WE WON!!!!
This was the most completely awesome game! Next game, game14 on Tuesday vs. either Astros or Cubs, whoever wins this afternoon.
This is a picture from the last game when Schuyler struck out and was upset. His friend helped him to feel better (posted with permission from his mom!). This is really what the game is all about - fun and friends and fun, and icing on the cake to win. :)
And this is what Emma does during games. Usually with what she calls her "gang of friends"...and they truly are a gang. They play together and snack the whole time. Finally, she gets to have fun at these games, too.
